Overwhelmingly, I was driven by a desire to craft heritage pieces, a sweater you reach for on a blustery day, one that you’ll inevitably pass down if it’s not stolen from your wardrobe first (sorry mom!). I found myself on a mission to breed, blend or create from thin air a fiber that was not only soft, but exceedingly durable—no more pilling after the first or second season. After years of research and testing, I discovered Border Leicesters, a dual purpose heritage breed whose fiber is long and lustrous; it creates the most beautiful yarns and makes for warm, lofty sweaters—the kind of sweaters you can only dream of.
